It's a Lemurgency!

My phone rings and it shows that it is Carly.  She usually texts me so this must be important.  I answer the phone and the conversations starts out as they usually do.  "You are never going to believe this one..."  She goes on to tell me that 2 LEMURS were found abandoned in a homes attic and they need rescued.  Again, my mouth opened up and the words "Okay, we will take them" just fell out.  A quick call to Michelle with Fox Tale Sanctuary and not even 15 minutes her and her husband are pulling in the driveway with an enclosure for them.  And, about 45 minutes later....we have lemurs.   I do not have experience with lemurs but I made some contacts to learn how to care for them until they could be placed.  They got a nice buffet set up and some branches to climb on.  They will be checked out by the vet and then go to their forever home in a few days.  They are being placed with a rescue associate that has great experience and knowledge in exotics.

Leaping Lemurs

These little lemurs are approximately 2 years old.  They were left in an attic after someone moved out approximately 3 months ago.  The neighbors report that "Someone was throwing food to them in bags every so often."

Quick, they are on their way!

One call to Michelle at Fox Tale Sanctuary and an enclosure was on its way.  We secured it to a piece of plywood and filled it with branches and a nice warm bed.  We hurried and went and got their favorite foods.

You guys are safe now!

The are all settled in a temperature controlled area.  They are fed, warm and safe from any harm or neglect.

Lemurs are not a typical pet and require someone with knowledge of them to make certain that they are cared for properly.  So, they will be heading out to a rescue associate that will provide them with the best care for the rest of their life (which can be 30 years).
