We are proud to announce a major milestone for Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary—our long-awaited Electrical and Water Infrastructure Project is officially moving forward.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we have successfully raised the funds needed to begin this transformative project. Construction is scheduled to begin in March, marking a historic step forward for the sanctuary and the animals who call Whispering Acres home.

This project will bring permanent electrical and water service from the street directly to the barn, replacing temporary systems and significantly improving the safety, reliability, and efficiency of daily operations. For years, caring for animals has required creative workarounds, extension cords, hauled water, and weather-dependent solutions. This infrastructure upgrade changes everything.

Why This Matters

Running water and permanent electricity will have a direct and lasting impact on:

• Animal welfare – Reliable access to clean water, heated waterers in winter, and consistent power for fans, lighting, and medical equipment will greatly improve comfort, health, and quality of life for resident animals.

What’s Next

With construction beginning in March, the Electrical and Water Infrastructure Project marks the foundation for the next phase of growth at Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary.

Once permanent water and electrical service are established, the sanctuary will be able to move forward with additional improvements that directly enhance animal welfare, safety, and accessibility. These next steps include installing heated and automatic waterers, upgrading barn lighting and ventilation, expanding safe and reliable power for medical care and emergency response, and improving daily care efficiency for animals with special and complex needs.

 

This infrastructure also unlocks future sensory-sensitive, therapeutic, and educational spaces, allowing Whispering Acres to better serve volunteers, youth, caregivers, and community members in a calm, inclusive environment. Reliable utilities will support expanded humane education programs, corporate volunteer days, and community outreach while maintaining the safety and comfort of both animals and people.

Most importantly, this project ensures long-term sustainability. Permanent utilities reduce risk, eliminate temporary solutions, and allow the sanctuary to respond more effectively during extreme weather and emergencies. It positions Whispering Acres to responsibly accept animals in need and continue its mission for decades to come.
