Yes, we certainly do need a bigger shelter before winter for these new animals.
We are in high gear for fundraising.
We are working to raise $30,000 to expand our shelters to safely and comfortably accommodate our rescues.
Please help if you can.
Anything can and will help.
Please feel free to forward the below letter to anyone that you know that would be able to support our cause.
Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary respectfully requests a donation to assist our fundraising efforts at the Medina County Fair!
Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary will have a booth located within the indoor concession area which receives an exorbitant number of visitors. Last year, the fair drew over 100,000 people.
With your donation, we will display your contribution on our website, the fair banner and promotional materials.
Items will display throughout the entire fair and raffled off at the conclusion of the fair on August 7, 2022.
We are raising funds to assist in the expansion of our barn and pasture at the sanctuary so that we may be able to assist additional farm animals and individuals in need.
Whispering Acres has been in operation since 2020 and became a 501 (c) (3) in 2021. We started off with a couple goats and a modest 600 sq foot barn. Little did we know that we would outgrow that quickly and need to expand. As the only farm animal sanctuary in Medina County, we are inundated with requests to rescue and rehabilitate and provide lifetime care for multiple species of farm animals. And, we are committed to growing and adapting our sanctuary to meet the emerging needs of both the animals and the community.
Covid-19 has taken its toll on individuals in our community. Many have lost their gainful employment, their health and even their lives. In turn, they have not been able to care for their animals any longer leaving many people in need. We have taken in animals from all over the state of Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. We provide for these animals through providing food, shelter, and veterinary care until their owner is back on their feet. And, if the animals cannot return to their owners, they will live out the remainder of their life here at the sanctuary.
In addition, many lives have been touched by increased mental health issues and loss. Our facility not only provides sanctuary for animals in need, but we also provide animal assisted therapy, free of charge, to Veterans suffering from Military Sexual Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. In addition to assisting Veterans, we also provide animal assisted therapy for special needs children and adults afflicted with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Daily, the animals that we rescue, rescue their human visitors. We welcome all, regardless of age or ability to pay for services. The youngest child we serve is 3 years old and the oldest gentleman that we serve is 104. It is through mutual love and trust that the animals and humans thrive.
The project that we are raising funding for is a handicapped accessible barn equipped with a sensory sensitive room, a classroom and additional stalls for the animals in need.
